The Position

The Donations Associate is part of our Development and Community Engagement (DevCo) team, a talented, creative, and driven group of fundraisers focused on furthering the agency’s mission and values. The Donations Associate supports our mission of transitioning people out of homelessness and poverty by collecting and cataloging agency in-kind donations and support the warehouse fulfillment and distributing them among program participants and agency operations. This position works with corporations, community groups, and individuals to pick up donations, and garners support from Programs management and staff for distribution of goods to program participants.

What You'll Do

  • Pick-up and receive in-kind donations from various sources of donors, including community members, corporations, and other nonprofit organizations. Follow digital calendar instructions to ensure timely and accurate pickup and delivery of donations
  • Support with receiving procured goods for the agency at the inventory warehouse, “Snoopy” and support with ensuring that quantity of goods received is recorded and communicated to the inventory coordinator and in-kind supervisor
  • Communicate with donor when receiving donated goods and represent LAFH in a professional manner
  • Support Community Engagement efforts to speak with community members about LAFH, and take photos with donors when they are dropping off goods
  • Collaborate with fellow Donation Associates to distribute in-kind donations to program staff and assist with the distribution of recurring donations at various sites
  • Operate agency vehicles, including an 8’ stake bed truck and a refrigerated van, in compliance with agency fleet policies and safety regulations. This includes adhering to safe driving practices, ensuring vehicle maintenance, and following all traffic laws
  • Manage inventory control for in-kind donations by tracking quantities and locations of items, ensuring accurate records of all incoming and outgoing donations
  • Work with the In-Kind Donations Supervisor and Community Engagement Manager, In-Kind Donations to coordinate delivery and pick-up logistics
  • Sort and assemble in-kind donations for delivery, including bulk orders, Welcome Home Kits, and seasonal donation distribution events
  • Support with various donor and volunteer event setup and cleanup as needed
  • In collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator, and Inventory Coordinator, support weekly volunteer shifts at Snoopy that support with organizing donated goods
  • Perform additional tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

What You're Skilled At

  • Knowledge of the San Fernando Valley and greater Los Angeles area
  • Understanding of issues related to homelessness
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Capable of working with diverse populations, including those with high acuity
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Must be timely, dependable, and adhere to agency policies
  • Basic computer knowledge or a willingness to learn and work with computer systems

Other

  • Obtain and maintains CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Ability to pass post-offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances
  • Travel is a regular duty for this position and is required 80% of the time
  • Use of a personal vehicle to travel between worksites and other locations is required while adhering to fleet safety protocols.
  • Must have and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and auto insurance in good standing
  • Ability to work a 9/80 work schedule with flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays

Experience

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Experience in distribution, sales, customer service, or equivalent preferred
  • Experience working at a non-profit preferred
